I Love Maui!

“All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life’s strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day.”

I’m sitting here on the lania of our 5th floor condo, sipping a cup of delicious Hawaiian roast coffee, gazing out on the beautiful blue Pacific and the island of Moloka’i in the distance. Today is the first day that Moloka’i isn’t shrouded in heavy cloud cover. It looks awesome!  We thought we’d be drenced in rain  today from the nearby hurricanes but they seem to have moved further north than expected, leaving us another incredibly beautiful Maui sunshiney day! It’s been more humid than usual and the tradewinds are not as strong as they usually are but dealing with heat and humidity on the island is a whole lot easier than dealing with it at home.

I could easily make Maui my home, if I could afford it that is. Of course my wife would never want to leave San Dimas and I like living there but Maui has a charm that enchants me. It seems to call out to me. When I’m here enjoying the island lifestyle I feel more alive, relaxed and filled with inner peace. I’m able to slow down and in doing so, appreciate God’s beauty, the blue skies and seas, the lush, green foilage and colorful blooms, the gently swaying palms, the incredible Maui sunsets, the starry nights and the friendliness of the people. Many of the locals we’ve met are transplants from the mainland who vacationed here, feel in love with the place and returned to make it their home. It’s easy to understand why. I truly love it here! This is my sixth visit to Maui and I’m still enchanted by it’s charm and beauty.

Sadly today is our last full day on the island. Tomorrow afternoon we fly back to the mainland and the reality of SoCal living. But I’ll have all the memories of the good life here on the island to carry me through. With that said I’m wondering why I’m still sitting here writing? I best be signing off so I can get out there and enjoy our last 24 hours here, make some memories! Hang Loose!

Aloha…
